Antonio Margarito vs Sergio Martinez years ago on February 19 2000 at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas

Antonio Margarito vs Sergio Martinez years ago. Antonio Margarito won via TKO in the 7th round. But this was years ago and doesnt matter now. I feel that Sergio Martinez can put on a good show against Manny Pacquiao. Usually if a boxer doesnt say bad things towards Pacquiao they match them up ala Cotto, Clottey and Margarito. Forget Floyd Mayweather after he saw what happened to Paul Williams last night (11-20-10), he doesnt want any from either guys.

Antonio Margarito won via TKO in the 7th round

Sergio Maravilla Martines knockout Paul Williams in the 2nd round.

Sergio Martinez obliterated Paul Williams via electrifying knockout in less than two rounds last night before a crowd of over 5,000 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City at 1:10 in the second round. It was a left hook that put Williams to sleep who couldnt make the 10 counts or more ala Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton.

Martinez is now 46-2, avenging his loss to Williams from a year ago. He says he’s willing to hear offers for fights and that he would be willing to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Manny Pacquiao at 156 pounds.

Being a Pacquiao fan. I would say if you have 2 clowns fighting each other no matter who won , he is still a clown. But I think Sergio Martinez is for real and he belongs in the top 3.

I think the Pacquiao - Margarito boxing bout on November 13 is gonna be an exciting fight. It is beyond of a reasonable doubt Margarito belongs in the top 10. My personal top 3 rankings are Pacquiao, Mayweather and Sergio Martinez.

Miss Universe will be held on August 23. Pacquaio authographed boxing gloves sold for $450

A pair of boxing gloves signed by pound-for-pound king and “Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao fetched $450 at the 2010 Miss Universe National Gift Auction at the Palm Foyer on the 3rd Floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Sunday, Manila Time.

ABS-CBN Las Vegas correspondent Bev Llorente reported that a pearl necklace also from the Philippines was auctioned off for $1,250. The funds raised are for the benefit of the Nevada Cancer Institute .

The Philippines candidate Maria Venus Raj personally auctioned off the prized item from her home country just like the other 82 contestants in a show hosted y KSNV Channel 3 personality Alicia Jacobs and featuring current Miss Universe Stefania Fernandez.

The Miss Philippines winner auctioned off the signed gloves along with a photo of the congressman representing the lone district of Sarangani signing the gloves as a form of authentication in an affair which, according to Llorente took some two hours.

Prior to her departure the Miss Universe candidate paid a courtesy call on Pacquiao, the national sports hero who advised Maria Venus Raj "you must be confident. Just think you are in the Philippines. There are many of our countrymen there who will support you. I will call our friends who are there to help you."

The ABS-CBN correspondent reported that several Filipinos had traveled from across the United States to attend the affair and to show their support for Miss. Philippines with tickets costing $100. She also said that Raj received a lot of attention from the international media “not because of the items she auctioned off but because of her standout appeal.”

Tim Tebow first round draft pick by the Denver Broncos

Getting down to brass tacks of Tebow deal

The contract details on Broncos rookie quarterback Tim Tebow show that his five-year deal is worth $9,713,500, not the $11.25 million the industry reports, according to a union source.

The difference is a one-time playing time bonus of $1,537,500 that the players association counts because it's "easy to earn." Almost all first-rounders hit the one-time playing bonus, but Jarvis Moss and Brady Quinn from the 2007 draft are among those who have yet to hit their one-timers. Tebow will be well on his way to his first NFL million on Friday, when the Broncos pay him a $975,000 advance, which essentially will be counted as a signing bonus for prorated salary cap reasons. Some details on the Tebow deal:
Base salary

2010: $1,295,000 (fully guaranteed)

2011: $1,618,750 (fully guaranteed)

2012: $1,942,500 (fully guaranteed)

2013: $2,266,750 (fully guaranteed)

2014: $2,590,500 ($567,500 guaranteed)
First payday Friday

Advance-signing bonus:

$975,000 on Friday (salary reduced to $325,000)

$6.275 million due 29 days after start of 2011 league year. Typically season starts March 1, but it's written this way in case work stoppage delays start of season. (Salaries from 2011-14 reduced to offset advance.)
Put me in, coach

One-time playing time bonus: (contractually considered likely to be earned)

Tebow collects $1,537,500 if he plays 35 percent of the offensive snaps in 2010, or 45 percent of the snaps in any of the seasons 2011-14.

The bonus rolls over from year to year until Tebow reaches the playing-time threshold, and expires the first time he hits it.
High thresholds

Mid-tier incentives: (contractually considered unlikely to earn)

Value of Tebow's contract doubles from $11.25 million (including one-time playing time bonus) to $22.5 million if he reaches multiple thresholds, including:

55 percent playing

Which quarterback do you wish to see take the majority of snaps as the starter this year for the Denver Broncos?
Kyle Orton: The incumbent will flourish in his second season under coach Josh McDaniels.
Brady Quinn: Given a second chance in a new system, his vast potential will be realized.
Tim Tebow: Why wait? He has proven himself a winner at the highest levels of college ball.
time in two of his first three seasons, 2010-12, or 70 percent playing time in 2013.

The Broncos make the playoffs, he reaches certain QB ranking thresholds, and receives unspecified honors.
Playoffs, honors equal bigger check

Max value: (contractually considered unlikely to earn)

The total value of Tebow's contract can escalate to $33 million if the Broncos reach the playoffs multiple times in his first four years, he has multiple top-five QB rankings, and he has multiple league honors such as NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP.

TRANSCRIPT of efforts to secure a Pacquiao vs Mayweather had failed. Floyd funked out.

BOB ARUM ON THE TOP RANK DECISION
By G. Leon

Dan Rafael ESPN: My question for you is, uh at what point you while you were negotiating with uh, with the uh, reps for Cotto and for Margarito umm, how deep into it would you be willing to change if Floyd presented himself uh, do you need to uh, have a signed contract with these guys or could you be up to the last minute and tell these guys, hey by the way in case Floyd decides to come out of hiding and take this offer, we're going to cut you off right here. How are you going to handle that?

Bob Arum: "The answer is that we wouldn't need a signed contract if Manny committed and I committed to Cotto or Margarito, that would be a deal. The signed contract would be later, but while these negotiations are going on while I'm talking to Manny, if Floyd came to the table, that's the fight that we want more than all othes, no question about it."

Dan Rafael ESPN: During this entire period did you have any direct conversations with any representatives of Mayweather or did you go strictly through Ross Greenburg?

BA: "Strictly through Ross Greenburg."

Dan Rafael ESPN: Did you find that to be unusual?

BA: "Well, you know Ross was committed to make the fight happen. As the head of HBO Sports I felt the best chance to make it happen was to do everything through Ross, almost like he was the mediator. I still think it was the right way to go. Obviously it didn't work out, not because Ross didn't go a good job, because I think he did in talking to myself an Al Haymon. Obviously the problem was, Floyd for whatever reason and I'm sure he's got some valid reason, did not want to committ."

Kevin Iole YAHOO SPORTS: Specifically, why was the deadline today, as opposed to next week or a little bit later after Roger's trial?

BA: "Good question. You understand what the deadline is? The deadline is the end of the exclusivity period. We now have to go out and secure an opponent for Manny Pacquiao, assuming that it won't be Floyd. We then have to mount a campaign, we have to get in touch with the television networks, the indemand, Direct TV and dish and get everything in order. Time is going by and we have to start scheduling press conferences. With Manny Pacquiao, I'm not dealing with a normal type of fighter where you can schedule press conferences willy-nilly. He's over in the Philippines and he has his duties which he takes seriouosly as a congressman in the Philippines, therefore we're limited as to when we can schedule a press conferences in the United States."

Kevin Iole YAHOO SPORTS: Did you or Todd reach out to anybody on the Mayweather side and say, 'hey is there anything going on?

BA: "We have never talked to anybody on the Mayweather side. All conversations on our part were through Ross and he reported all conversations from the Mayweather side through Al Haymon."

Kevin Iole YAHOO SPORTS: You said on June 30 that you thought there were no more issues remaining and it was pretty much done. Is that still your position now and it's just that Floyd's decided he doesn't want to fight this year?

BA: "Yes. That's based on my conversations with Ross Greenburg. Understand, I've never talked to anybody on the Mayweather side. I've only talked to Ross Greenburg, who represented to me certain things that he had discussed with Al Haymon on behalf of Mayweather."

Kevin Iole YAHOO SPORTS: Lastly, I know you mentioned Cotto or Margarito. Most speculation has been Margarito. If it happens to be Margarito, given the circumstances of his 2009 fight and given that he hasn't won a big fight subsequently, why does he deserve a chance for Manny Pacquiao?

BA: "I'm not going to take that up now. That's something that you can editorialize if and when a fight with Margarito is made."

Kevin Iole YAHOO SPORTS: If the Mayweather fight doesn't made do you think it will have a negative impact on the sport?

BA: "I am sure, I am sure without knowing that there is a very, very good reason that Floyd Mayweather has for not committing to a fight at this time? Now I'm speculating, one of the reasons could be the uncertainty surrounding Roger Mayweather. For people who don't know Roger Mayweather is scheduled before a court in Nevada regarding criminal charges. I know how Manny would feel if he had to go into a fight like this without the services of Freddie Roach and presumably, Floyd would feel the same way going into a fight like this without the services of his uncle Roger who has been training him for a number of years."

Greg Leon BOXINGTALK: With um nearly four months out between now and November, why the rush? The first time around the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight seemed to be in discussion all the way up until the first week of January. The fight with Clottey was scheduled on two months notice. Why the sudden need to implement a deadline and have this call because the exclusivity period is over four months out? Isn't there another week or two of leeway that could have been given since this fight is so big?

BA: "No, not really because now I'm dealing with a very unsual situation. I'm representing a fighter who is also a congressman and he has legislative duties and he has committments in the Philippines and I have really short windows to handle various aspects of the promotion."

Greg Leon BOXINGTALK: Right, but if he's going to fight on November 13 the date of the press conference wouldn't change, would it?

BA: "Yes it will. I'm going to have to do press conferences a lot further out than might ordinarily be the case. Indeed when he'll be training for the fight, he'll be training as a congressman and he'll have to fit his training into legislative sessions. I understand that the congress sits three days a week."

Greg Leon BOXINGTALK: How quickly do you anticipate you'll be able to verbally close a deal with either Margarito or Cotto?

BA: "I have no idea, but I would assume a week or so. I would have to get Manny's views. I would have to discuss with Manny who he preferes etc, and then get everything put together."

Greg Leon BOXINGTALK: All three athletes are under your banner, so Top Rank would have promotional control. Is the ultimate decision as it relates to who the opponent will be, does it fall on Manny or is it a Top Rank executive decision?

BA: "It falls on Manny."

Greg Leon BOXINGTALK: If you had your preference who would it be?

BA: "I'm not going to say because I don't want to have prejudice on the situation, I want Manny to decide. He's a very intelligent guy, he's going to know what the considerations are, and whoever he selects is who we're going to go after and make the fight."

Greg Leon BOXINGTALK: You're a very intelligent guy too. Although you suggested to Kevin that he can editorialize it how he chooses earlier; in your opinion, do you think that Margarito deserves such a fight?

BA: "It's the same answer I gave to Kevin. Do we have another questioner?"

Steve Kim MAXBOXING: When you talk to the representatives of Margarito or Cotto can you tell us what the timeframe you would tell either side they have to make a deal?

BA: "Yeah, it would be the next 10 days."

Greg Logan NEWSDAY: You said that you did everyrthing through Greenburg and you thought you had a deal. How close do you feel you were? Did the other side relay any hint of why Mayweather wasn't ready to committ?

BA: "It's a very good question, the answer is no. They kept assuring Greenburg, based on what Greenburg told me, Haymon told him that he was working on it, to expect an answer shortly. Of course, it just never materialized. I don't blame Haymon, I think he really tried, at least what I get from Greenburg, Haymon really tried to get the fight together."

Greg Logan NEWSDAY: You mentioned Richard Shaeffer before, kind of obliquely. What involvement, if any, did he have, did you get any indication the he was also on board?

BA: "Again, Shaeffer's name was never really mentioned by Ross. Al Haymon, the only feeling I had that Golden Boy might be involved, or that Haymon might be talking to Floyd, was when Oscar said on the radio that the deal was very close to being closed. So I assumed, at that point, that Haymon had talked to Shaeffer, and that Shaeffer had talked to Oscar."

Greg Logan NEWSDAY: As far as the specifics that Manny agreed to, regarding blod testing for drugs, we've seen it reproted that there was a two week window, a cut off period. Did Haymon, through Greenburg, agree to that?

BA: "I'm not going to go into specifics, but I think that issue was resolved, Not as clear cut as you're saying it, but I believe it was resoved. I don't want to go into the details."

Greg Logan NEWSDAY: But you were satisfied that Haymon, their side, could accept whatever conditions you...

BA: "That's what it seemed to me, based on what I was hearing from Ross. Remember, like I said, on any impression to be out there, that I ever thought that Haymon or that Shaeffer, or anybody else, I didn't."

Greg Logan NEWSDAY: If you do have to move on to Margarito or Cotto, what would the attraction be for a Cotto rematch?

BA: "The Cotto rematch would be that Manny's going for a title, fighting at a higher weight, and that Miguel would have Emanuel Stewart in his corner, one of the great cornermen of our time. That certainly would give Cotto more ammuntion going into the fight than he had last time.

Greg Logan NEWSDAY: Granted. If it's Margarito, as far as the California Comission putting off any further hearing on him, where do you go for him?

BA: "Well, number one, we ask for the Nevada Comission, based on California putting it off, to give him a conditional lisence to fight in Nevada on the 13th of November. Hopefully, from Margarito's standpoint, they will agree to that. If not, then if Manny decides that he wants Margarito, we would do the fight in Monterey, Mexico. Manny would do the fight outside of the United States."

The rest of the blah, blah, blah was irrelevant for the most part

Deadline for Floyd Mayweather to sign a contract to fight Manny Pacquiao is Friday July 16 2010 at 11.59 pm

Floydies unwillingness to talk with Top Rank and let the clock expired indicate that he is not willing to fight Manny.

Top Rank had given up to the demands of Floydie in regards to the drug testing issue.
Floydie and family accused Manny of using PED s and wanted a special drug test.
Top Rank agreed to the 14 days time period.

Moneywise, each boxers will get to the tune of $50million each and Floydie balked.

Therefore, we get a conclusion that Floydies is avoidancing Manny at any cost. This fight needs to happen the latest is 2011. If latter than that, the bout would not be as good as the earliest since both fighters will be a little older.

Tonight's Top Rank pay-per-view main event between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and John Duddy is one of those fights that you absolutely have to be a boxing fanatic to care much about at all, or, if not a boxing fanatic, a diehard Mexican boxing fan, or a diehard Irish or Irish-American boxing fan

Four-time winner of the “Trainer of the Year” award Freddie Roach predicts that if the “Son of the Legend” Julio Cesar Chavez Jr follows his instructions by working effectively behind his jab then he could knock Irishman John Duddy out in ten or eleven rounds.

Chavez has been training under Roach at his Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles and has impressed both Roach and conditioning expert Alex Ariza with his dedication and hard work and his ability to take in all that Roach has taught him.

Chavez's father is, you can say, the most famous and most revered Mexican fighter of all-time. Chavez (40-0-1, 30 KO) undefeated record will be tested against Duddy (29-1, 18 KO)

We all would like the fight to happen between Pac and May.

Manny Pacquiao: Will fight as boxer and congressman

World boxing champion Manny Pacquiao believes he can continue his phenomenal career in the ring while fulfilling his dream of helping his poor countrymen as a politician.

“It just needs discipline. You just need time management,” he said.

Still on a high after winning a congressional
seat representing impoverished Sarangani province, Pacquiao, 31, said he would continue fighting—both as an athlete and legislator for the people.

“There are many problems in my province, many people who need help and, one by one, we will decide what to do to help them,” said Pacquiao at a grand celebration in his hometown Saturday night.

“I am happy that I won and that people voted for me but it is also a great responsibility and so I must help my countrymen,” said Pacquiao, known as Pacman, who grew up dirt-poor until boxing brought him world fame and riches.

Amir Khan vs Paulie Malignaggi Video Replay Highlights, Results 15 May 2010

Light-Welterweight Title Contest commences on 15th May Saturday, 2010 in WAMU Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York between WBA Super Lightweight World Champion Amir Khan against native hero Paul Malignaggi. This will be the debut for the champion in America.

Both the fighter will be looking forward to a huge display at 140 lbs with a victory. Though, it was not certain that Khan will face Malignaggi in his American Debut. There were other in the race like Juan Manuel Marquez and Marcos Maidana against Khan and finally Malignaggi was up the race. Khan has the perfect talent and the speed, by which he can trouble any opponent. Against Malignaggi, Khan can definitely match his speed and can outdo him in power.

Malignaggi on the other hand is a tough fighter here. He is skillful and smart as well but not a guy with power punch, but his confidence and dexterity viaduct the gap. It has been noticed that sometime in bigger matches, he comes loose against his opponents. Malignaggi has been with his new trainer Sharif Youman and it appears that he has evoked his potential

Martinez vs pavlik result: Martinez beats Pavlik to claim middleweight title.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.—Nobody could deny Sergio Martinez the victory this time.

The junior middleweight champion dominated the final five rounds Saturday night, winning a bloody and impressive unanimous decision over Kelly Pavlik to claim the WBO and WBC middleweight belts at Boardwalk Hall.

Martinez (45-2-2) moved up to 160 pounds to challenge Pavlik, who had never been defeated at his natural weight. The 35-year-old from Argentina put on marvelous display of speed and footwork, though, rallying from a questionable knockdown in the seventh round to batter and frustrate the pride of Youngstown, Ohio.

When the final bell sounded, Martinez immediately ran for the corner and leaped onto the ropes in victory, his promoter Lou DiBella storming into the ring. Pavlik solemnly raised his own arm, his face awash in blood—just as it been at the end of every round after the eighth.

Judge Roberto Ramirez scored the fight 116-111, Barbara Perez scored it 115-111 and Craig Metcalfe had it 115-112. The Associated Press also scored it 115-112.

According to Manny Pacquiao's lovely wife Jinkee, her husband is ahead on poll surveys as the election day draws near. The Filipino boxing champ is running for the second time as a lone district congressman for his province of Sarangani, Philippines.
Barely three weeks before election day, poll surveys reveal Manny Pacquiao is ahead of his political rival for the lone congressional seat in Sarangani province in southern Philippines.
Pacquiao's good showing in poll survey results could be traced to the active participation of his wife Jinkee in the campaign. Jinkee, whose family and relatives are from Sarangani has been actively campaigning in remote areas of the province to help the Filipino boxer in his election bid.
“We are actually ahead in the surveys but now we really have to maximize our efforts and time,” Jinkee reveals
Pacquiao is running for a congressional post for the second time. He lost the race in his first attempt against a lady congresswoman from General Santos City.
Jinkee says she is confident her husband can make a difference—especially in the life of poor residents.
“We talked about it and I believe in his good intentions to serve the people of Sarangani,” she says. “Manny and I can’t let our supporters down. The people need help.”
During the campaign, Manny Pacquiao told his constituents when asked how he will make a difference as a politician:

“I’ll show you how to make a big difference. I want you all to idolize me not just in the ring but above all, in public service,” Pacquiao tells the crowd in Glan town on Thursday.
The boxing superstar has delivered issue-based speeches on the campaign trail. He shuns personal attacks practiced by traditional politicians.

Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum earlier announced he will fly to the Philippines onto Sarangani to show his support to the Filipino boxer's fight outside the boxing ring. Arum is very popular in the Philippines for having helped budding Filipino boxers in their quest for excellence in the sports of boxing.

Road to Dallas: Pacquiao vs Clottey

The Pacquiao-Cotto 24/7 by HBO Sports was a nice documentary reality series that focused on Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto’s training and preparation for the bout as well as a glimpse of their personal lives.

However for Pacquiao-Clottey, HBO will not make a 24/7 series. Their executives must be thinking that there will be no interest for that bout as fans want thePacquiao-Mayweather bout better or maybe the Mayweather-Mosley bout has overshadowed this one.

Instead, HBO presents Road to Dallas: Pacquiao vs Clottey as a replacement. It is a 30-minute, pre-fight countdown show leading up to “The Event” on March 13, 2010 at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA.

The special has premiered on HBO on Saturday, March 6, right after Boxing After Dark “Devon Alexander vs Juan Urango” (9:30 pm ET/PT).

Bob Arum says the Pacquiao vs Clottey boxing match on May 13 2010 will be a sell out

Bob Arum says less than 8,000 tickets are left in the welterweight @ 147 pounds on May 13 2010 at the huge Dallas Cowboys Stadium. This will be definately be sold out in the week of the fight. This will be a great fight because Clottey will come to trade punches with Pacquaio like he did when he fought Cotto. In the Cotto/Clottey match ,in my opinion he beat Cotto that night but being a challenger the judges votes weighted heavily towards the champ Cotto.

Bob Arum did a great job in matching Pacqauio versus Clotley. I think the Clottey fight is much better than a Mayweather match. A more exiting bout would have been a Shane Mostley / Manny Pacquio boxing match.

Shane will be fighting Mayweather a month after the May 13 2010 Pacquaio vs Clottey match. I dont care about this Mostley/Mayweather but, being a Mostley fan im rooting for Shane to knock out Mayweather. If Mayweather wins via judges decision and make this a boring fight. The sport of boxing will suffer and make the UFC more appealing to the sports fan.

Tips for using laptops. Laptop sales are going up. Improper posture can hurt neck ,back and wrist. Proper laptop set up.

Laptop Ergonomics

Laptop computers were once used mainly as secondary computers; for travelers who couldn’t get to the office or students to take to the library. Not so anymore. More and more laptops are becoming the primary working computer and most of the time laptops are designed with portability, not good ergonomics in mind.

Computer users who use a laptop on a frequent basis must usually compromise either wrist posture or neck posture. Normally, with a desktop computer, the top of the monitor is positioned around eye level, and the keyboard is placed at about the same level as the elbows. With laptops however, the keyboard and the monitor are attached, so the positions cannot be adjusted independently. The result is that comfort must be compromised. Placing the laptop at a low enough level for a comfortable arm position means that the neck is tilted forward to view the screen; raising the screen to an acceptable level means that the hands are too high. Looking down at the monitor or bending forward for long periods of time can cause neck and shoulder pain.

Person using a laptop

A chair that is too low or a table that is too high can cause poor wrist posture or contact stress between the wrist and the surface edge. This can lead to hand and wrist problems. Laptop users also tend to use their laptops wherever they are—in bed, on the dining room table, on the floor—locations that generally don’t promote good working postures, especially for the neck and back.

A few simple improvements can greatly improve comfort and reduce the chance of injury while working at a laptop computer.

* When using a laptop as your primary computer use an external keyboard, mouse and ideally, an external monitor. This way you can attain an ideal working posture. At the very least, use an external keyboard and mouse and follow the next point for raising the laptop.
* Raise the laptop up off the work surface so that the top of the viewing screen is at approximately eye level. There are many different types of laptop risers available; if possible the riser should be height adjustable to ensure a correct height and accommodate different users. If no riser is available, the laptop can be placed on top of books or a box (just make sure the fan can adequately cool the laptop).
* Take frequent breaks and change postures frequently. Mini-breaks—as short as 10 seconds—are recommended throughout the day. Research has found that short, frequent breaks are actually more beneficial than longer, more infrequent beaks.
* Use a document holder to get documents off of the desk surface.
* Sit in an adjustable chair with good back support. Ensure that your workstation is adjusted so that your wrists and hands are in line with your forearms and not resting on the edge of your laptop.
* When transporting your laptop, use a rolling laptop bag versus carrying it over long distances or a backpack with well padded straps to distribute the weight evenly across your shoulders.
