Miguel Cotto vs Antonio Margarito July 26, 2008 @ MGM LAs Vegas result - Margarito is the new WBA welterweight champion.

Margarito upsets Cotto and is the new WBA welterweight champion. This was a good Top Card main event.

In this match I like Cotto (27yrs old) (32-0 26KO)because he knows how to use his jabs, attack the body and score points in bunches. Cotto has the edge in talent, technique and versatility. Margarito is the naturally bigger man with the sturdier chin and busier in the punches thrown area.
In this bout Cotto scored more jabs than Margarito but Margarito scored more in power punches. Margarito (30 yearls old)(36-5 26KO) came tonight to brawl which is the correct game plan to defeat a current champion. Throughout the bout, Margarito maintained the dominant position and keep Cotto back paddling and keept him in the ropes most of the time.
In Round 11 Margarito's punches hurt Cotto and caused him to kneel down for a knockdown. For the second time Cotto kneeedl down for a knock down due to Margaritos punches. Fight is stopped. KO for Margarito.

Whats next for the Welterweights (147pounders)?
Margarito(30 yearls old)(37-5 27KO) vs Oscar De la Hoya (35 yrs Old)(39-5 30KO).
This makes more sense than Manny Pacquaio(29 years old)(47-3 35KO) vs Oscar De la Hoya. I read Manny wants $30 million to fight Oscar. That way Manny can retire. I will surely miss Manny if he retire. Also Oscar has the advantage in size and reach.

MANNY PACQUAIO PAY PER VIEW STATISTICS

After HBO(brodcaster) and Top Rank(promoter) get their share of the pay per view share, the boxers will get theirs depending on what’s stated in the contract.

The Manny Pacquiao vs. David Diaz title bout held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, drew close to 250,000 hits on pay-per-view. Each hit is worth $49.95 and with close to 250,000 hits sales would reach around $12.5 million.

Compared to the 400,000 hits or $20 million generated worldwide by Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao’s 12-round showdown with Juan Manuel Marquez on March 2008 for the WBC Super Featherweight title.

Manny Pacqiao's three classic fights with Erik Morales drew a combined sales of 1 million pay-per-view hits or $50 million.

"Lethal Combination " brings $3 million at the gate .

According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, "Lethal Combination " Pacquiao vs David Diaz on June 28 2008 at Mandalay Bay drew 9,630 paid fans to the Mandalay Bay Event Center for gross ticket revenue of $3,350,730. 844 tickets were given away with a total value of $603,800. Bob Arum said that the attendance would have been much higher if gas prices werent so high. The previous Pacquiao fight vs Juan Marquez drew more audience to the gate. There would have been more people from California and other places driving to the event if gas at the pump werent so high.

Pacquiao’s next bout is slated on Nov. 15 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Who will he be fighting is yet to be determined?

Manny Pacquiao is the present double WBC world champion at lightweight and super featherweight holder. Manny Pacquiao must announce by July 28 which title he has decided to keep. If he decides to give up the lightweight division title and keep the super featherweight title, Soto must fight Pacquiao for the WBC super featherweight world title.

MANNY PACQUAIO WITH THE BOSTON CELTICS

MANNY PACQUAIO WITH THE BOSTON CELTICS in his locker room after the match with David Diaz. I did not know Manny Pacquaio is a Boston Celtics fan who idolize Kevin Garnett. Maybe its because of Freddie Roach his menter who is also from Boston. I heared David Diaz idolize Kobe Bryant. Anyway here is Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Sam Casell and Rajon Rondo of the Celtics and the rest of the Pacman crew chanting "Many, Manny, Manny...."
