
The Philippines will host the 45th World Boxing Council (WBC) Convention on November 9-17, 2007. This will be the 3rd time for the Philippines to be host.
The first WBC Convention that was held in Manila, was in 1967,Luis Spota from Mexico was the WBC President.
In 1970,the WBC annual Convention was back to Manila for the second time. Justiniano Montano was President and Rodrigo Salud (General Secretary) both from the Philippines.
The third time will be from November 11-17 , It will be attended by about 500 delegates from all over the world. The current WBC President is Jose Sulaiman Chagnon of Mexico. The Philippines is a good venue bacause it has 4 reigning world boxing Champions and Manny Pacqiuao at the helm of being a top pound for pound boxer in the world.
The guest list includes Oscar De La Hoya,Roberto Duran, as well as former heavyweight world champions Lennox Lewis and Larry Holmes, Mike Tyson and Marco Antonio Barrera.
