US Mens Basketball wins gold in 2008 Olympics in beijing
In the final day of the 2008 Olympics, the US mens basketball defeated Spain 118-107 to get the gold. It was a close game with the US leading only by 4 points with 2 and a half minutes to go. The final score became lopsided when the Americans hit a bunch of free throws after the Spanish became frustrated and were called for the technicals.
This was not an easy game for the US because the Americans had won their first seven games by 30 points. They beat Spain by 37 points earlier in the tournament. Their price is the gold which they had in 2000 Olympics. Throughout the tournament the US who invented basketball compiled perfect 8-0 record. Dwayne Wade led the team with 27 points and 4 steals. Kobe Bryant finished with 20 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds. For Spain Rudy Fernandez scored 22 points and Pau Gasol scored 21 points.

Manny Pacquiao was the Philippine flag carrier during the opening ceremony in the 2008 beijing olympics.
I was very excited and very proud to see Manny Pacquaio as the flag bearer for the Philippines in the opening of the 2008 Beijing Olympics on 8-8-08. Pacquaio's appointment was approved by the Philippine Olympic Commitee and the Beijing Organizing Commitee. This is the first time that the Philippine flag bearer is not a participating athlete. Manny Pacquaio deserves the honor because he has brought honor to the Philippines in the sport of boxing. Miguel Molina stepped aside gallantly to give way to Manny as the Philippine flag bearer. Miguel Molina is considered to be the most outstanding male athlete in the last 2007 South East Asian Games in Thailand winning five gold medals in swimming.
