April 12, 2008 , Atlantic City, New Jersey,USA :Cotto defeats Gomez and retain the WBC welterweight title


ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Miguel Cotto’s keep his belt for the WBA welterweight title match against Alfonso S. Gomez on Saturday night. Cotto won via TKO when the doctor stopped the fight after the fifth round.

Cotto (32-0, 26 KOs) hammered Gomez (18-4-2, 8 KOs) over five wholly uncompetitive rounds to retain his title, the fight finally stopped with a badly beaten Gomez on his stool at the end of the round.
